Dargestellt ist die 518 der Kaschin Klasse, Projekt 61 des 5. sowjetischenMittelmeer Geschwaders im Jahre 1972. Im Hintergrund zu sehen der Felsen von Gibraltar mit dem Europa Point.

Japanisches Großkampfschiff Yamato in der Schlacht von Samar
Die Yamato mit ihren 46 cm Hauptgeschützen
Hier dargestell das japanische Großkampfschiff Yamato in seinem einzigen Seegefecht: Die Schlacht von Samar am 25. Oktober 1944. Die Yamato hatte das größte Kaliber des 2. Weltkrieges und wenn mit den 46 cm Geschützen geschossen wurde, neigte sich das ganze Schiff. Im Verlauf dieses Gefechtes wurde u.a. der amerikanischen Geleitträger USS Gambier Bay versenkt. Im Bildhintergrund zu sehen ein schwer getroffener und brennender japanischer Zerstörer der Kamaikaze-Klasse.
